A Romantic Cannon Beach Elopement Photography Session

If you're dreaming of a soft, sweet beach ceremony, Hannah and Kevin’s romantic Cannon Beach elopement might just be the inspiration you need. With its misty skies, coastal charm, and timeless natural beauty, Cannon Beach is one of the most beloved spots on the Oregon Coast. It's perfect for couples looking to exchange vows in a way that feels both elevated and intimate. From creative lantern shots to dancing barefoot in the sand, this session brought all the romance—and all the mood.

Why Cannon Beach Is the Perfect Location for a Romantic Elopement

When you think about a perfect elopement spot, it’s hard to beat Cannon Beach. Not only is the scenery stunning, but this stretch of beach gives couples the freedom to create a day that’s completely their own. While there are plenty of popular spots near Haystack Rock, walking north leads to more secluded beaches. These areas offer a quieter intimate spot for your vows.

We met near the beach access point between the Wayfarer Restaurant and the Ecola Inn. It’s an ideal location with easy beach access. However, it’s important to plan ahead. While there is public parking, it fills up fast on sunny days. Street parking is very limited, so be sure to plan accordingly.

The Magic of a Romantic Cannon Beach Elopement

Hannah and Kevin’s romantic Cannon Beach elopement took place from 5 to 7 PM on a March evening. The lighting was soft and dreamy. Partly cloudy skies gave us the most flattering glow. We started with creative portraits near the beach. Then, we ended the session with a lantern-lit stroll through the tall grass as the first raindrops began to fall.

One of the most magical moments of the day was capturing Hannah twirling in her sheer, flowing dress. The movement of the fabric in the breeze looked ethereal—like angel wings. These became some of the most artistic shots in their gallery. I especially love how the photos of Hannah and Kevin under her sheer train turned out!

Details That Made This Oregon Beach Ceremony Stand Out

This wedding day was filled with thoughtful details. Hannah’s bouquet from Summit Bloom NW added a bright pop of color against the sandy beach. We even spotted a group of elk napping nearby. Little surprises like that make a Cannon Beach elopement feel especially unforgettable.

Although many people were enjoying the beach, Haystack Rock remained a stunning backdrop in every direction. Even with other beachgoers around, I did everything I could to keep the focus on the couple. The detailed hand-editing I do to remove all the little people from the background also helps to remove any distractions and let the emotion shine through.

Planning Tips for Your Own Romantic Cannon Beach Elopement

If you envision a romantic Cannon Beach elopement for you and your partner, a little planning goes a long way. First, consider the time of year and the tides—sunset sessions like Hannah and Kevin’s offer stunning light but can be chilly, especially in spring or fall. Second, keep an eye on parking availability. Arriving early or choosing a weekday can help you avoid crowds at this popular location. Finally, think about how you’d like your day to feel. Whether it’s just the two of you or a small group of loved ones, Cannon Beach has the space to make your vision come to life.

I’m always happy to help my clients plan every detail—from the timeline and location to creative photo ideas and local vendor recommendations.
